Teenager in court for killing 19yr old Apprentice

A Junior High school student has been arraigned before a Ho magistrate court in the Volta region for allegedly stabbing to death one Wisdom Amu, a 19 years old tailor-apprentice on Sunday, March 6, 2016.
The suspect (name withheld) who is in his teen ages was among three other friends who engaged the deceased in a fight around the Ho sports stadium, when he (the deceased) was returning home from the 59th Independence Day celebrations at Jubilee park in Ho.
During the scuffle however, the suspect reportedly pulled a knife and stabbed Amu on his left breast and was later pronounced dead at the regional hospital. 
Confirming the incident to Voltaonline, the Ho municipal Police crime officer, ASP Adobo Apeatu said  the suspect who was arrested on Monday March 7, confessed to stabbing the deceased with a nail cutter during interrogation. He  was subsequently  remanded into police custody by the court  last Thursday and to reappear today, Thursday March 17.
ASP Apeatu however noted that, the three other suspects who were initially arrested by witnesses at the scene of the incident have been released after investigations revealed they had no hand in the crime.

Teenager stabbed to death in Ho

A nineteen year old boy  has met his untimely death Sunday afternoon, after he was stabbed by some youngmen  in Ho, the Volta regional capital.
The incident  is said to have occurred around the Ho sports stadium at about 5:00pm,  when the victim, Wisdom Amu, was returning from the 59th Independence Day celebration at the  Jubilee park.
According to an uncle of the deceased, Dr. Winfred Naccortsey, his nephew, who is a tailor-apprentice was stabbed on  the left  breast by one of the four young men who were said to have accosted him, which resulted in a scuffle. 
He said bystanders who went to scene to separate the  fight, found Amu unconscious with the knife stab and rushed him to the hospital where he was later pronounced dead and  the incident has since  been reported at the Ho central police station.
Meanwhile, the four suspects have been arrested and are assisting in police investigations.
According to a  source, three of the suspects were arrested immediately at the incident scene by some bystanders  and handed over to the police  while  the fourth person who absconded was  later arrested by the police on Monday.
The body of the deceased is currently at the morgue for autopsy.

First year Ho Poly student murdered



Police in Ho are investigating the gruesome murder of a female student of the Ho Polytechnic by an unidentified assailant(s), Monday dawn.
The body of Naomi Kpodzro, a first year HND Fashion student was found in a pool of blood by her mates on Monday dawn at 'Divine Star' - a private female hostel- with knife and gunshot wounds on her body.
She was however pronounced dead at the regional hospital in Ho, where she was rushed for treatment.

An assistant registrar in-charge of Public relations at the Polytechnic, Mr. Isaac Meyir who confirmed the incident,  said the family of the deceased have also been contacted. 

Though, It is unclear what led to the killing,  reports indicate the deceased may have offended a lover.

According to anonymous sources  , a call made to the victim's phone was answered by the suspected killer who asked the caller to let the victim know that, “it's not everyman's money you spend and go for free.”
However, a contrary report  indicated that, the lady might have been a victim of a mistaken identity, whose roommate might have been the actual target.

Murdered Nkwanta-South DCE buried on Assembly Premises

The remains of the murdered Nkwanta-South District Chief Executive, Peter Kojo Kenyenso was on Saturday laid to rest at the forecourt of the district assembly premises at Nkwanta.
Hundreds of mourners including, Politicians, traditional leaders and business Executives trooped the Nkwanta R.C School Park to pay their last respects to a man, who was brutally shot dead by unknown assailants in the evening Monday, November 3 last year his residence.
A government delegation led by the Local government Minister, Julius Debrah, MMDCEs, MPs and leading members of the governing NDC party including Dan Abodakpi was present to mourn with the Kenyenso family including his wife and three kids
Several tributes poured in for the 50 year old local politician, with many describing him as ‘affable and energetic’ man with unbridled ‘passion and dedication’ towards the development of his area.

Court Remands Man for beheading Son

The Ho District court on Tuesday remanded Gideon Abotsi, a 37 year old farmer for allegedly beheading his three year old son on Friday, July 18, 2014 over his wife’s decision to starve him of sex.
Residents of Kpeyiborme in the South Dayi district of the Volta Region on the fateful day went to bed with the shock of their life after Gideon, popularly known as ‘Jarah’ butchered his third born and only boy out of four kids till his head almost severed off.
The court presided over by Magistrate Robert Addo, remanded the suspect into prison custody to reappear on Wednesday August 6, 2014 to allow the Police continue with their investigations.
Presenting the case, Police Prosecutor Sheila Odai told the court that Last Friday, a complainant, John Ahiable who happens to be the father of the suspect reported the horrific incident to the Peki Police in the South Dayi district of the Volta Region.
She said the complainant in his statement noted that he was in the farm when some neighbours rushed to inform him that his son, Gideon has killed his own son, three year old Sitsofe Abotsi.
He rushed to the son’s house to realise that his grandson is dead and lying in a pool of blood as his son has been tied up by neighbours to prevent him from escaping.
Some minutes later the Police came to pick up Gideon to the Peki Police station.
